Course Description

A working knowledge of HTML is essential if you are going to create Web pages. Beginning HTML teaches you the basics of HTML and introduces you to the tools you need to build a Web page.

Working with Text
Learn to manipulate what your text looks like on your Web page. You will create your own page and practice using basic HTML tags .

Color and Graphics
Everyone knows that what a page says is most important, but how it looks matters, too. We’ll show you the basics for adding color and graphics to your page to give it the personality it needs.

To Link or Not to Link
You will learn how to add hyperlinks to other pages within your own site, to pages on related sites, to specific places on pages with lots of information. You’ll learn how links work so you won’t be caught with dead links on your site.

Frames
Ever wonder how a Web site’s hyperlinks stay constant on the left while the content of the page changes? The answer is often frames. You’ll learn to create frames to make your site easier to navigate.

Forms
The key to making a Web site interactive is to ask your visitor for information. You’ll create forms to make gathering this data simple.

Image Maps
Looking for a more interesting way to give your visitor options than a boring list of links? Use an image map. For example, Bubba’s Steak House has locations all over the United States. With one image of the U.S., you can click on Utah and be linked to a page that shows you Bubba’s Utah locations. Image maps are visually appealing and a great way to organize your links, making them more user-friendly.

Applets Open the World of Java
Using the power of Java can greatly enhance your Web page. But the learning curve for Java programming is steep, especially if you are not a programmer. With the Applet tag you can add impressive Java capabilities to your site without writting a single line of Java code.

More Tools
A Web page is about more than nice-looking text and graphics. This class will also cover the basics of lists, meta tags, and tables.
