- An interface for an external program to talk to a Web (HTTP) Server is a Common Gateway Interface (CGI). These external programs that are written to use CGI to access a Web Server, are called CGI Scripts. The CGI Scripts allow web users to access programs of all types on a remote system, as if they were using the remote system themselves. In this course participants learn how to use HTML forms with CGI scripts to process form information, interact with users and provide user feedback. Participants will also learn to write basic CGI scripts using the Perl Scripting language.
